Bardia's New Orleans Cafe

Ok I know I've been gone leaving your mouth watering but I'm back with an all new delicious destination that's sure to leave you satisfied. Bardia's New Orleans Cafe. With a menu consisting of Jambalaya, Creole, Etouffee, Cajun Linguine, Po'Boy sandwiches, salads, and the ever famous Gumbo all in  an array of flavors this little place is sure not to disappoint. With that being said you know I had a hard time choosing what to eat. So to start I went with Sweet Potato fries served with cajun mustard while I looked over the menu. The fries were fried to perfection and topped with cajun spices, and although the mustard was good it wasn't my cup of tea, I prefer ketchup. It was the perfect amount of spice and sweet. I also went with the Spicy Cajun wings to top off my appetizer. Again fried to perfection topped with cajun spices as the name suggest. It was served with a remoulade sauce that was just delicious. I know your thinking that I should be stuffed by now but for the sake of the blog I continue to order!! I decide to go with the Shrimp Po'Boy served with none other than cajun fries.  Flash fried shrimp over lettuce and tomato topped with remoulade sauce and melted cheese(hold the cheese please)! It was served the the most tender french roll ever. There was a mouthful of shrimp in every bite! Simply delish. I'm telling you that sauce is the best!! My friend that I was with decided to go with Chicken Breast and Jerky Sauce. Marinated chicken breast, grilled and covered in jerky sauce served with rice-creole sauce. The chicken breast was so tender and moist. It cut with the slightest of ease and all but melted in my mouth. It was the perfect blend of spices, it was simply put, Delish!!
Bardia's is located at 2412 18th St., NW Washington DC 20009 in the Adams Morgan District. They can also be reached by phone for carry out (ooh yeah!!) 202.234.0420

They also serve breakfast and brunch that is served all day. So needless to say I'll be there to try that out one of these mornings!

Now go eat Louisiana style Great right here in DC and tell then you found them on I ATE IT YOU SHOLD TRY IT!!

Jason's deli

Yummy, Yummy, Yummy! That's how I describe this delicious destination in College Park. I was looking for a place that made GREAT sandwiches, not something that I could just throw together at home. In my quest I found Jason's Deli. Not only do they have great sandwiches but they also have a menu that includes other greats such as pasta, salads, potatoes, and desserts! Needless to say I was overwhelmed by the menu: wraps, paninis, wrapinis( a creation all their own!), pasta, po'boys, soup, salad, fruit! Where is a gal to begin. Well, after inspecting the menu five times over I decided to go with the Ciabatta-Bing! Oven roasted turkey breast, roasted tomatoes, purple onions, homemade guacamole, swiss(but hold the cheese for me please) and organic field greens on multigrain ciabatta. Boy was that a mouth full....literally! This sandwich was great. Not too much meat, not too much dressing, just the right amount of everything. Really. The bread was slightly toasted, but not hard or tough. You could bite into this sandwich and not feel like you had to rip it out of your mouth just to finish the bite. And the guacamole was delish... just the right amount of mayo to avocado. It was great. Did I mention that you can choose from blue corn tortilla chips with salsa or guacamole, fresh fruit, steamed veggies, or baked chips and a pickle all for the price of your sandwich!! That's what I'm talking about.
I also tried one of their soups, the spicy seafood gumbo. That was delicious as well, not quite like my Great-Grandmother Sweetie use to make it but it sure came in a close second!! Plenty pieces of shrimp and a lot of kick. The fruit was also tasty, although I did not care too much for the fruit dip that came with.

This place is a must try. In addition to carrying out you can also sit down as they pride themselves as being "The Deli Restaurant Since 1976." Jason's Deli is located at 7356 Baltimore Ave. College Park, Maryland. You can also check them out online at www.jasonsdeli.com or by phone 301.779.3924. And please tell them you found them on I ATE IT YOU SHOULD TRY IT.

Shuler's Family Kitchen

Hey people this delicious destination might just be my pick of the month.....Shuler's Family Kitchen!! The owner, John Shuler, really knows how to throw down!! I had grilled tilapia with cabbage and candy yams. The fish was grilled fresh and was spiced to perfection, it was crisp but not dry! I loved it. This little place located on 5205 Marlboro Pike Capital Heights, MD 20743 is full of character. Upon arriving at the restaurant I was kind of skeptical but boy am I glad I didn't judge a book by its cover. Inside I was greeted by the aroma of wonderful spices and Mr.Shuler himself. It is set up buffet style(but you don't do the the serving, they serve you), so everything is set up for you to see and make your choice that much harder! It all looked so good I didn't know what to do! After making my decision to go with the tilapia ( did I mention that the fish was very meaty, I'm not talking your flat freezer fish from the grocery store....and you know what I'm talking about, I'm talking plump!), I walked over to the tables to discover dominoes, checkers and chess on one table and Uno on another, there was also a TV on the wall. So I decided to play a little Uno and watch a little TV. After whipping up on my friend for two hands the food was ready. The games served as a distraction because it didn't even seem as though it had taken that long for our food to be ready! Mr.Shuler had out done himself I was extremely happy with my decision. Besides the great food and atmosphere, this place gets even better! They also serve breakfast, and yes I did go back the following morning to try it out and it was delicious too! But wait there's more.... they close at 10 pm BUT on Friday and Saturday open back up at 2 am to serve the late nighters who are just coming home from the club!!! Don't worry you don't have to thank ME just go and try them out. I promise you won't be disappointed and make sure you tell him you found it on I ATE IT YOU SHOULD TRY IT!!

King's Deli & Grocery

King's Deli & Grocery on Urbanspoon
This delicious destination is located on the corner of Georgia Ave. and Quebec Pl. in N.W.  right across from Georgia Ave.-Petworth Metro. Sou can fix you just about anything, anyway you want it. But my personal favorite is the Chicken and Potatoes. Simply DELICIOUS!! The wings are cooked in a teriyaki type sauce with garlic. And the potatoes are not mashed they're actually wedges!! All drizzled in that yummy sauce. I can eat this for days and not get tired of it. But make sure you ask them to cook the wings hard, it just taste even better that way! Be sure to get there before 5 p.m or you're OUT OF LUCK and we don't want that now do we! I hope you enjoy, I know I do!

Peaches Kitchen Restaurant & Catering Service

Ok my first delicious destination is a spot called Peaches Kitchen. It's a fusion of American and Jamaican cooking and boy is it tasty. One dish I highly recommend is the Stuffed Chicken Dinner. The chicken is stuffed with CRAB & SHRIMP!!!!! I usually get it with the Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Cabbage! It is mouth watering GREAT. I also recommend the Turkey Meatloaf, Turkey Spaghetti, and just about everything else on the menu. The Mac & Cheese isn't bad either! BUT I highly recommend ordering 45 minutes in advance. They make it fresh when you order so you'll be around for a minute before you eat. But the wait is well worth it! This is not the place to go for a quick bite....although they do have a lunch buffet but not all of the menu items are available. The desserts are GREAT as well. I love the Cheesecake..... and the Brownie!

Peaches Kitchen is located at 6412 3rd Street NW Washington, DC. 20011. Just around the corner from  Calvin Coolidge Senior High School. You can also take a look at their online menu @ www.peacheskitchen.com or give then a call @ 202.722.5250  Make sure you tell them you found them on I ATE IT YOU SHOULD TRY IT!!!

Some might be carry-outs ( and DC has lots of 'em, but I'll save you some time and trips to the store buying Pepto and tell u the ones worth going to), your local deli, corner pizza shop, or that hole in the wall that always smells good but you might not want to go in!  Well I've been there and I'm still going there and people the food is great!! I hope you try these places I recommend and you enjoy them as much as I do!!(Notice I said DO not HAVE!)
